Gloria Jean Lewis, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born January 14, 1935 in Blackton, AR to the late Jake and Josephine Henderson Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nina Peterson and Judy Littleton both of Pocahontas; grandsons, Toby Halbert (Heather), Matt Halbert, Marty Hogan (Jillian), Michael Hogan (Marissa), and Eric Bachtel (Heather); 13 great grandchildren, Cameron Halbert, Shelby Jo Carden, Spencer Carden, Madalyn Hogan, Hailey Hogan, Joshua Bachtel, Taylor Halbert, Laken Halbert, Aiden Bachtel, Colton Halbert, Wyatt Hogan, Aubrey Hogan, and Cannon Hogan; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Graclyn and Harper Carden; along with many others that called her “MawMaw”. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Lewis, Jr; and sons in law, Luther Peterson and Jerry Littleton.

Gloria was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Pocahontas where she taught children’s Sunday School for over 40 years and loved all of love and hugs those kids (and their parents) would share with her. She loved to share her faith with most everyone she met and she didn’t meet too many strangers either. (some may have slipped by her when she wasn’t looking) She loved to cook and sew and was often referred to as the “Cake Lady” and “Bag lady” in the community. Visitation for Gloria will be on Sunday, November 24 from 5-7 pm in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with funeral services following on Monday, November 25th at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Pocahontas. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery outside Clarendon at 3 pm. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church – Children’s Dept at 511 Church St, Pocahontas, AR. 72455 or the charity of your choice. She also had a “Thanksgiving” tree in her room where each visitor was asked to give their name, date and what they were thankful for so anyone that wants to add to it is more than welcome. The family wishes to extend thanks to Gloria’s special friends and caregivers.
