Gerald Ray Smith, 79, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center, in Jonesboro. Gerald was born in Gideon, Missouri, on Tuesday, October 6, 1942, to James William and Pearlie Irene Branch Smith.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearlie; maternal grandparents, John Obie and Sudie Mae Branch; son, Johnny Ray Smith; brother, James “Jimmy” William Smith Jr.; and sisters Evyneil Morgan, Imogene Meeks, and Laverne Smith.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, of sixty years, Janetta Faye Head Smith; son, Jerry Ray (Jodi) Smith, of Vienna, Missouri; daughters, Susan (Mitch) Smith Rowe, and Sonia (Wayne) Meridith, both of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Shayla Smith, Heather Oberkramer, Jarrett (Whitney) Meridith, Courtney (Cambrin) Morgan, Billy Smith, Sarah (Charlie) Adams, and Corey Rowe; great grandchildren, Emma Schnider, Madison Schnider, Jordan Gottschalk, Devin Martin, Heaven Martin, Karter Meridith, Lake Meridith, Maevery Morgan, Cam Morgan, Jordan Adams, Braxton Adams, and Malachi Adams; brothers, Clinton Smith, Roger Smith, and Michael Smith; sister, Beth Lindle; special granddaughter, Tia Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

All services will be held in the chapel of Hope Gardens Funeral Home, on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, with Gerald’s funeral service immediately following at 2:00 pm, Dan Avery officiating. Gerald will be laid to rest in Gross Cemetery.

Honored to carry Gerald to his final earthly resting place are Jarrett Meridith, Charlie Adams, Cambrin Morgan, Corey Rowe, Devin Martin, and Jerry Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Meridith, Mitch Rowe, and Harold Head.
