Freddie Murray 1940-2022

Freddie Murray, 81, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away at home on Friday, February 25, 2022. Freddie was born in Pocahontas on Sunday, May 5, 1940, to Edward L. “Ted” and Martha Corrine Reed Poor Murray.
Freddie was known for helping those in need. Soon after he married Hazel, Freddie told her, “If I had my living made, I would spend my life helping others.” And so, he did. Everyone within his circle, and many beyond, soon found out that if they could reach Freddie, he would make things right.
Freddie faithfully attended New Hope Assembly of God Church.
Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. “Ted” and Martha Corrine Reed Poor Murray and his sister Debbie Crays.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Hazel Murray; daughter, Kimberly Rene Murray of Pocahontas; three sons, Freddie Dale (Lisa) Murray, Robert Grant (Charlotte) Murray, and Dennis John Murray, all of Pocahontas; three grandchildren, Alicia Murray, Rachel Greenwood, and Taylor Hendley; two great grandchildren, Logan and Kennedy; two brothers, Lloyd (Dorothy) Poor of Pomona, Missouri and Ed (Adred) Murray of Searcy, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Jesse Grant; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, who are like siblings, and friends.
All services were held in the chapel of Hope Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, with Brother Gaylon Russell officiating. Freddie was laid to rest in Sharum Cemetery.
Honored to carry Freddie to his final earthly resting place were Ernie Grant, Hunter Morris, Mike Ogden, Ron Ring, Vernon Nicholson, and Jason Poor. Freddie’s procession was led by his friend, Red Oaks. The family respectfully designated Zachery Grant, Cody Grant, and Danny Morris as honorary pallbearers.
