Smoot named Phi Theta Kappa Regional President

On March 10, 2018, at the Annual Regional Convention of the Oklahoma/Arkansas Region of Phi Theta Kappa, Leah “Aly” Smoot was voted by her peers in Phi Theta Kappa as the new Regional President of Phi Theta Kappa. Aly will hold the position of Regional President for one year and will be responsible for running the Annual Regional Honors Institute in the fall and the Annual Regional Convention in the spring. As President she will also attend Catalyst, Phi Theta Kappa’s International Annual Convention in 2018 and 2019, as well as the International Honors Institute at Villanova University. She will be responsible for representing both the Oklahoma/ Arkansas Region of Phi Theta Kappa as well as the Beta Delta Phi Chapter from Black River Technical College.

Aly was born in Soda Springs, Idaho, and after marrying Spencer Smoot, at the time an active duty member of the Marine Corps, she has had the opportunity to live in both Hawaii and California before settling in Arkansas upon her husband’s retirement. They have one son, Ace, who has been a great joy to them both.
