Dorothy Flagg
Dorothy Gardner Flagg passed away at Randolph Home October 2, 2022 at the age of 93.
Dorothy Mae was born September 25, 1929 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She lived in the Green Forest community outside of Poplar Bluff until 1960 when her family moved to Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Dorothy was the bookkeeper for the family business of Flagg Stave Mill until it closed in 1971 and then joined the ESNA group in the accounting department. Later she became a teller for Pocahontas Federal Savings and Loan and the Bank of Pocahontas until her retirement in 2000. A friend to all animals, she was a very compassionate owner of numerous dogs and cats over her lifetime. Dorothy was known to pick up injured animals from the roadways and take them to veterinarians to have them mended. Dorothy enjoyed watching the local wildlife come to her yard and eat the cat food she had left on her deck. For many years, Dorothy and her sister, Carol Reed, spent summer vacations at Branson, Missouri enjoying the music and numerous shops in the area. Dorothy loved Christmas and was known for her holiday decorations and giving ways during the holiday season. Her kind heart and gentle spirit will be cherished and missed by all that knew her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Flagg; son, Bobby Dan Flagg; and parents Bill and Myrtle Gardner.
Dorothy’s surviving family includes son, Rex (Debbie) Flagg; daughter, Terri Koons; daughter in law, Mary Sloan; grandchildren, Kris Flagg, Barret (Tricia) Flagg, Matthew Koons, Ashley Wheeler, Rachel (Anthony) West, Eric Flagg; 12 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Kris Flagg, Barret Flagg, Matthew Koons, Eric Flagg, Gary Gazaway, and Scott Smith.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. with interment following at Randolph Memorial Gardens. Suggested memorials may be made to Randolph County Humane Society, P.O. Box 364, Pocahontas, AR 72455.
