DONNIE RAY BAGWELL

Donnie Ray Bagwell, 76, of Maynard passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
 He was born March 16, 1949 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Ray and Clara Belle Bagwell. He was the youngest of his siblings.
 After a short stent in the Air Force, Donnie began working on the river and worked through the ranks to become a respected river boat Captain, from which he eventually retired. Although he was very successful in his career, his greatest sense of pride was of his two daughters.
 Donnie was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed life by traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved teaching others to fish and to take them on memory making adventures. His love for the outdoors and nature was only surpassed by the love he had for his family.
 He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Clara Bagwell; and sisters, Kathy McQuay and Lurline Brown.
 Donnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beulah Bagwell; daughters, Cheyenne (Derek) Kildow of Pocahontas and Andrea (Jesse) Luffman of Maynard; four grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Carley, and Drake; two sisters-in-law, Regina (Dave) Byers and Rhonda Hart; and a brother-in-law, Robert Wayland Brooks. He also has many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
 Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 11 AM 1PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 1 PM with Tyler Emery officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Maynard Cemetery.
 Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Shannon Brooks, Austin Brooks, David Byers, Derek Byers, Dion Yancey, and Dave Byers.
