Daniel Peterson

Daniel Luther Peterson, age 69, of Pocahontas, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023, leaving this big void in our hearts and lives. He was born, April 21, 1954, the oldest beloved son to Danny and Willene (Lawson) Peterson and grew up in Forrest City, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Dan Peterson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nina Taylor Peterson and was the proud father of his only daughter, Brandi (Peterson) Ritter, two step-sons; Toby (Heather) Halbert and Matt Halbert, grandchildren; Cameron, Laken, Taylor, and Colton, as well as special neices, nephews, (greats too) and a host of family and friends.

Luther loved life and lived it in a Big way!

He loved his job with Union Pacific Railroad and loved to “talk” all things and people UPRR. He dedicated himself and served them well working his way up to Manager of Track Projects and exhibited leadership with a strong work ethic. He made friends everywhere he went and stood strong on his beliefs, with his friends, old and new.

He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Pocahontas. He served wherever he could, was on the board and even sang in the choir. For those of you that know Luther, that was a stretch for his comfort zone, but he gave it his all!!

Luther loved to laugh and share stories (and make up a few) with family and friends. Spending quality time with his loved ones and watching the little folks always brought him great joy. He often said he kind of hated to see them grow up and outgrow him (and his funny antics) but was so proud of them.

Although we miss him here, we have comfort in knowing that he is in heaven, greeted by a great host of family and friends and dancing on those streets of gold with his Lord and Savior.

The family would like to ask, since he passed away on National Giving day, that in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to the charity of your choice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tennessee, 38105-9959, or FFWB Building Fund, 2835 Hwy 62 West, Pocahontas, Arkansas, 72455, ffwbpocahontas. com, or Manna Worldwide, 4255 West Risinger Road, Fort Worth, Texas, 76123. He had the biggest heart and would be so honored to see the charity work and peace go all across the world.
