Charley Crockett Fortner Jr., 81, of Ravenden Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, surrounded by his family. Charley was born in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas on November 22, 1941, to Crockett and Nettie Fortner.

Charley was loved and adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a friend to all and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Charley was a mechanic and farmer. He enjoyed driving his tractor and taking care of the farm. Charley worked tirelessly to support the Water Valley Fire Distract, loved coaching, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Above all, he loved his wife, Shirley, unconditionally. Charley will be missed by his family and friends.

Charley is preceded in death by his parents Crockett and Nettie Fortner and sisters Mary Charette, Margie Riner, and Shirley Lakey.

Charley is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Baldridge Fortner; daughter Charlotte (Matt) Prunty of Pacific, Missouri; son Greg (Debra) Fortner of Cedar Hill, Missouri; grandchildren Katie (Woody) Smelser, Andy (Payton) Prunty, Kayla (John) Smith, Brittany Fortner, Kurt Prunty, Taylor (Justin) Sikes, Seth Fortner, and Megan Fortner; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Ruby Brown, Mazie Matthews; and brother Jim Andrews.

Services were held at Hope Gardens Funeral Home on September 5, 2023. Charley was laid to rest at Bellah Cemetery.
