Charles Jack French

Charles Jack French, Sr. departed this life in Pocahontas Arkansas on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the age of 92. Jack was born to Thomas and Mabel Tharpe French on September 18, 1930. He lived his life in the Delaplaine community before settling in for retirement in Pocahontas. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Skaggs Church of Christ in Pocahontas. Jack was a dedicated farmer and cattleman. He instilled his knowledge to his children and grandchildren, whom many are carrying on this occupation. Jack also was instrumental in obtaining a rural water system, Clay County Water District, for the Delaplaine area. He continued to serve on the water district board for many years. Jack also served on the Delaplaine School Board and the Farm Service Board of Directors. His involvement for making the community a better place was profound.
Outside of farming and raising cattle, Jack loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Friends and family participated in these activities often and every one would probably agree, Jack could be competitive. He participated in bass fishing tournaments and high five card tournaments. Many trophies held a place in his home throughout the years. Jack also loved traveling, watching the grandchildren play sports, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
On May 12, 1951, Jack married Christina Eveland. They spent 72 years sharing a life together like most cannot imagine. They became the parents of three children and these children blessed them with six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. They enjoyed having the grandchildren around, traveling around the United States, and just being home together.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mabel; a brother, Donald French, and son-in-law, Fred Carter. He is survived by his wife, Christina of the home; three children Jack French, Jr. of Delaplaine, Gary French (Teresa) of Peach Orchard, and Gaye French Carter of Pocahontas; six grandchildren Jay French (Gayle), Adam French (Katie), Genee’ Carter, Leah Privett (Jeremy), Ali Brooks (Aaron), and Tommy French (Bree); 12 great grandchildren Lily Massey, Carter, Jack, and Nate Privett, Ace and Aiken Brooks, Paxton, Bryson, Jackson, August, Stetson, and Coralee French; three great great grandchildren; a brother, David Fender of Lafe, a sister, Shirley Meredith (Eddie Joe) of Delaplaine, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
