Baltz Lake Youth Fishing Derby Day

The 1st Annual Pocahontas Baltz lake Youth Fishing Day will take place on April 23, 2022 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. All youth ages 15 and under are invited to enjoy a day of FREE fishing, food, and fun. The small south side of the lake will be stocked with catfish the week of the event. 15 and under from the bank can begin at 7 a.m. 15 boat limit-Registration will begin at 6 a.m. for Youth Bass Tournament for ages 9-15. 2 man teams along with a licensed boat captain. Live well required.

PAC Dolphins Swim Team receive donation

The PAC Dolphins Swim team would like to say a big THANK YOU to the Pocahontas Kiwanis organization for their generous donation. Kiwanis has been a longtime supporter of the team and asked Coach Anna Lawhon to speak at a recent meeting. Coach Anna spoke about the impacts of Covid on youth sports and how the Dolphins work to make the swim team affordable. Our nation is being engulfed by a silver wave of senior citizens and our state is no exception. Some visionaries back in the Eighties saw this tsunami approaching and thought that riding the wave would be more fun than being swamped by it. They founded the Arkansas Senior Olympics.

Maynard Elementary Chess Compete in Tournament

The Maynard Elementary Chess team competed in the North Arkansas Educational Cooperative Elementary Chess tournament held on Wednesday, March 16th. The students competed against other students from various schools in the Co-op region. Jordan Haney won four out of five games and received a trophy for his accomplishment. The students enjoyed the chess tournament and lunch at Subway in Walnut Ridge.
