The Maynard School District has an opening for a school board member. If you would like to be considered for this position, please visit the administration office to be added to the board agenda for the next board meeting, scheduled for August 26. After visiting the administration office, you will need to go to the county clerk’s office to get a petition, where you will need to obtain signatures and return to the county clerk before the board meeting to verify those signatures. You will need to attend the meeting on August 26 and will have five minutes to address the board as to why they should consider you for the vacant position.

The Pocahontas soccer sign ups have begun. You can register online at pocahontassportsandrecreation. sportngin.com or go to Pocahontas City Hall and turn in forms Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 pm. to 4 p.m. Cost is $50 per player. League is for ages 3 to 12 and goes by a player’s age as of August 1, 2025. Last day to register online is August 3 at midnight and last day to register at City Hall is August 1 at 4 p.m. There will be no late registrations accepted.
