Lady Greyhounds open season

The Lady Senior Greyhounds lost to the Norfork Panthers 52-22 in their season opener last week. Norfolk, returning all their starters from last season, was the Arkansas Class 1A Senior Girls Basketball Champion last year. Katelyn Graddy led the Lady Hounds in scoring with 8 points. Also scoring were Makayla Gosha, Emma Ward, Carley Morgan, Cadee Johnson, and Abby Geoffrion.

Greyhounds posts two wins

In a Tuesday night game played at Bill Mc-Curley Gymnasium, the Sloan-Hendrix Senior Boys beat the Crowleys Ridge Academy Falcons 68-27. The Falcons scored the first two points of the game, but Harper Rorex quickly countered for the Hounds to tie the score. The score was back and forth, being tied 13-13, with 1:52 left in the first quarter. Ethan Pickett put Sloan-Hendrix 1513 with a 2-pointer with 1:23 remaining in the quarter. The Hounds built on that lead and led 22-15 at end of the quarter. The Hounds continued their tenacious defense and balanced scoring to lead 43-19 at the half.

Dolphins adopt an eagle

The PAC Dolphins adopted a Williams Baptist Swimming Eagle! Our local college team could use your help. The WBU team is fundraising to offset travel costs, upgrade current equipment and purchase new equipment.

The Good Stuff

A dominating 48-6 Homecoming win over the Trumann Wildcats, coupled with a Blytheville Chickasaws loss to Gosnell, leaves the Pocahontas Redskins all alone at the top of the 3-4A conference table with only three regular season games remaining. Next up for the ‘Skins is a trip to Jonesboro to take on the Westside Warriors, who ended a four-game losing streak this past Friday night with a 35-15 win over Harrisburg.

The Good Stuff

The Pocahontas Redskins kept their unbeaten conference record alive last week, cruising to a 49-21 win over the Harrisburg Hornets. This week is Homecoming Week for the Redskins – mums, class reunions, and parents dressed in their best escorting the Homecoming Queen and her Court across the field – with the Trumann Wildcats selected as the Homecoming opponent.

PJHS Redskins sting the Hornets

The Pocahontas Junior Redskins beat conference foe Harrisburg Hornets 50-6 on October 6 at Schoonover Stadium. To emphasize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pocahontas Medical Clinic, furnished the players with pink bracelets to wear. The Redskins struck early and led at end of first quarter 30-0 and at half 38-0.
