SHHS posts homecoming wins

The Sloan-Hendrix Senior Boys traveled to Mammoth Spring for a Tuesday night game and beat the Mammoth Springs Bears 79- 45. Harper Rorex led the Greyhounds in scoring with 18 points, followed by Cade Grisham with 12 points, Luke Murphy had 11 points, Ethan Lee and Braden Cox contributed 8 points each, Karson Roark tossed in 7 points and Ethan Pickett, Cade Marshall, Braxton Wall, and Anthony Holland had 2 points each.

Cross Country team ends season

The Redskins wrapped up their cross country season on Wednesday, November 26th at the 4A Region 3 Conference Meet at Joe Mack Campbell Park in Jonesboro. Teams competing included runners from Brookland, Highland, Pocahontas, Southside-Batesville, and Westside Consolidated.

The Good Stuff

The Pocahontas Redskins held off the Blytheville Chickasaws this past Friday night, with Redskin quarterback Connor Baker racking up 389 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 41 carries in the victory. The Redskins travel to Highland this week for the regular season finale, with Baker just four rushing touchdowns shy of breaking the state record set by Clarendon’s Cedric Houston.

Baker wins “Sweetest Play”

Yarnell’s Ice Cream of Searcy, in cooperation with KAIT-Channel 8, sponsor a “Sweetest Play of the Week” contest during high school football season. Plays are nominated and then voted on by the fans in their area. This week’s winner was Redskin Senior Quarterback/Linebacker Connor Baker for his 87-yard touchdown run against Westside on October 21.

PJHS Skins attack Byltheville

The Pocahontas Junior Redskins traveled to Blytheville to play their last game of the season and came home victorious with a 28-16 win. Levi Martin scored on a single yard run and converted the 2-point attempt to give Pocahontas the lead at 8-0 with 5:14 left in the first quarter.

PJHS Skins beat Westside

The Pocahontas Junior Redskins beat the Westside Warriors 42-6 in the last home game this year at Schoonover Stadium on October 19. The Redskins came out of the gate with fire in their eyes and led 20-0 at end of the first quarter and 36-0 at the half.

The Good Stuff

Pocahontas maintained sole possession of the 3-4A conference lead by rolling Westside 41-7 last Friday night. Quarterback Connor Baker accounted for six touchdowns in the win, with four of those coming on the ground, moving him that much closer to eclipsing the state record for rushing touchdowns.
