Sloan-Hendrix Senior Baseball Greyhounds concluded an outstanding season with a 4-3 loss to the Mansfield Tigers (20-4) in a tightly contested 10-inning game at the Arkansas State 2A Baseball Tournament held in Greenland.
Mike’s Barbershop on the court square, the official barber of the Redskin baseball team, has sponsored DJ Coffey as the Redskins baseball player of the week. Coffey proved his worth in the three games that the Redskins played this week.
Zane Hibbard, a Pocahontas High School Redskin baseball player, has been named Player of the Week, sponsored by Mike’s Barbershop on the court square - the official barber of the Redskin baseball team. The Redskins played three games last week, including two significant conference matchups. While the team finished the week with a record of 2-1, Hibbard’s performance stood out.
Heated debates with referees and trash-talking players is something one may expect when watching professional sports. But such behavior is not expected of parents on the sidelines of youth sporting events. However, unruly parents are on display with increasing frequency at various youth sporting events. According to a 2017 survey by the National Association of Sports Officials, adult behavior is the reason more than 75 percent of all high school referees quit. About 80 percent of new officials stop after two years on the job. This has led to a shortage of officials across the youth sports landscape.
Jack Privett, a baseball player for the Pocahontas Redskins, has been named the “Player of the Week” for his outstanding performance in the team’s recent game against Southside Batesville. The announcement was made by the team’s coach, who praised Privett for his remarkable contributions to the Redskins’ victory.
Eli Risley, sponsored by Mike’s Barbershop on the court square as the official barber of the Redskin baseball team, has been named the Redskins’ Baseball Player of the Week. Risley’s impressive performance on the mound and at bat helped the Redskins secure two wins to start their season.
