Salem outlasts Pocahontas in thrilling 30-28 victory
In a clash of two local high school football teams, the Salem Greyhounds, ranked in 2-3A, narrowly edged out the Pocahontas Redskins 30-28 on a redhot Friday night in the Ozarks. The game, which spanned nearly three hours, featured a roller coaster of momentum swings and was the longest in recent memory, testing the endurance of both teams.

The Pocahontas Jr and Sr Lady Redskins defeated the Newport Lady Greyhounds at Newport Thursday, Aug. 29, to give both teams a clean sweep of their opponents for the week - Hoxie, Walnut Ridge and Newport.

Redskins tame the Colts in preseason scrimmage
The Pocahontas Redskins opened their 2024 season in the Arkansas Delta with an exciting preseason scrimmage victory over the Rivercrest Colts, coming away with a 21-20 win on Thursday night, Aug. 22. The game was decided in the final seconds when Rivercrest’s field goal attempt fell short as time expired, giving Pocahontas the narrow win.
Redskins Host Hornets in Tennis
The Pocahontas High School Redskin Tennis team hosted the Harrisburg Hornets Thursday, Aug. 22 at Chase McDonnough Courts in Pocahontas. In girl’s single matches, winners were Kate Kazee over Barnes 6-4 and Anna Overman over Chesney 6-1.

The Lady Redskin Volleyball team defeated the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in Jr and Sr volleyball matches at Pocahontas Tuesday, Aug. 27. Going up against her alma mater, first-year Head Coach Sydney Burgin’s girls swept Walnut Ridge in the Sr match 25-16, 25-17 and 25-14.
