PSD sets date for Community Informational Meeting

The Pocahontas School District invites all community members to join in on a public informational meeting about the 2025 millage campaign. The purpose of this meeting is to provide clear information about the proposed millage and to give the community the opportunity to ask questions and share their voice. Families, guardians and community members are encouraged to attend. The meeting will be held Tuesday, September 9 at 6 p.m. at the Pocahontas Community Center.

BRTC Library houses national exhibit

A new national exhibit is the centerpiece for a collaborative project between Black River Technical College (BRTC) and the Eddie Mae Herron Center. The exhibit “Am I An American Or Am I Not?” focuses on the history of the Japanese American incarceration during World War II, and is named after a quote from Fred Korematsu, who famously challenged the mass imprisonments.

BRTC President selected as finalist for Arkansas Executive of the Year Awards

Black River Technical College (BRTC) President Martin Eggensperger has been named as a finalist in Arkansas Business’s 2025 Executive of the Year Award. President Eggensperger, entering his 6th year leading the technical college, is one of six finalists in the publication’s state-wide Nonprofit category. The winner will be announced during the Arkansas Business Executive of the Year Awards ceremony on Thursday, November 13 at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
