On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Pocahontas Redskins swim team participated in the Greene County Tech Invitational in Paragould. Abbigail Percifull swam the 200 Free, placing second with a 2:23.24 and she swam the 100 Free, also placing second with a 1:07.54. Audrie Gann swam the 50 Free, finishing fifth with a 32.36 and she swam the 100 Breast, finishing sixth with a 1:40.60. Chloe Fort swam the same two events as Audrie. Chloe swam a 38.72 for 14th place in the 50 Free and a 2:08.30 in the 100 Breast for 11th place. Lauren Olson swam a 1:17.58 in the 100 Fly for third place and she swam a state qualifying time and broke her own school record in the 500 Free finishing second with a 6:05.58. The girls joined together to swim the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay. Both relays came in second. In the 200 Free Relay, their time was 2:11.39 and for the 400 Free Relay, they swam a 5:11.69.

The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins remain perfect on the season improving to 7-0 with a 53-7 win over the Newport Jr. Lady Greyhounds. Newport had no answer for the Redskins defensive pressure and were forced into numerous turnovers. Aubrey Coffey led Pocahontas with 19 points, Brayleigh Carter added 11, Adrienne Mahan had 10, Sydney Percifull had eight, Lexi Ring and Emma Conway had two each and Aly Winslow chipped in one.

Dallas Durham pumped in 27 points as the two seed Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds outlasted the six seed Pocahontas Redskins 52-46 in the semifinal round of the WBU High School Tournament Friday, December 6. Sloan-Hendrix (12-2) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Hillcrest after receiving a first round bye. Pocahontas (3-0) advanced by defeating Hoxie and Bay.

In the battle of the Greyhounds the third seeded Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds cruised to a 7353 victory over the top seeded and previously unbeaten Salem Lady Greyhounds to claim the championship in the WBU High School Tournament Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Pocahontas Redskins gave notice that they are not a team to be overlooked this season as they upset the two seeded Bay Yellow jackets in the quarterfinals of the WBU High School tournament at Williams Baptist University, Thursday, Dec. 5.

The eight seeded Corning Bobcats edged the nine seeded Maynard Tigers 61-60 in a hard fought “barn burner” in the first round of the 65th WBU High School Tournament at Williams Baptist University, Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The seven seed Pocahontas Lady Redskins overpowered the ten seed Corning Lady Bobcats 53-33 in first round action Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the 65th Annual WBU High School tournament at Williams Baptist University.
