Mason Priest scored a season high 23 points to lead the Pocahontas Redskins to a 77-71 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in Sr. Boys action Monday, Dec.16 at Pocahontas.
In a hard-fought battle between two unbeaten Jr. Girls basketball teams the Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins knocked off the Salem Jr. Lady Greyhounds 41-37 in the Maynard Basketball Classic Thursday, Dec. 12. In a game of runs, Pocahontas jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Salem answered with an eight-point run of their own. An Aubrey Coffey free throw would tie the game at the end of the first quarter. Ten of Coffeyâs 12 points on the night came from the free throw line.

On the first night of the Maynard Basketball Classic the Maynard Jr. Lady Tigers dropped a close decision to the Wynne Jr. Lady Yellowjackets 54-52.
With the Pocahontas Jr. Redskins trailing 40-37 with 0.6 seconds remaining in regulation Ace Brooks drew a foul on a desperation three-point attempt. Brooks calmly sank all three free throws to send the game into overtime. The Jr. Skins went on to claim a 49-45 victory.
The Pocahontas Lady Redskins held off the Wynne Lady Yellowjackets 5650 Monday, Dec. 9 in the Maynard Basketball Classic. Jacalyn Chester scored all of her seven points in the first quarter to help Pocahontas grab an early 14-10 lead after the first quarter.
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Pocahontas Redskins swim team participated in the Greene County Tech Invitational in Paragould. Abbigail Percifull swam the 200 Free, placing second with a 2:23.24 and she swam the 100 Free, also placing second with a 1:07.54. Audrie Gann swam the 50 Free, finishing fifth with a 32.36 and she swam the 100 Breast, finishing sixth with a 1:40.60. Chloe Fort swam the same two events as Audrie. Chloe swam a 38.72 for 14th place in the 50 Free and a 2:08.30 in the 100 Breast for 11th place. Lauren Olson swam a 1:17.58 in the 100 Fly for third place and she swam a state qualifying time and broke her own school record in the 500 Free finishing second with a 6:05.58. The girls joined together to swim the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay. Both relays came in second. In the 200 Free Relay, their time was 2:11.39 and for the 400 Free Relay, they swam a 5:11.69.
