The AYSSP will hold a meeting on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. for all students in grades 5-12 interested in joining. This will be the first meeting of the season and will be an informative meeting to learn what the sport is about.
The 2025 baseball/softball registration is underway with a deadline of March 2. Forms can be picked up and returned to Pocahontas City Hall during regular business hours Monday through Friday. The Pocahontas Sr. Lady Redskins dropped a 60-36 decision to the Brookland Sr Lady Bearcats Thursday, Jan. 9 at Schoonover Fieldhouse. Plagued by turnovers Pocahontas fell behind 12-2 after the first quarter and could never recover. The loss dropped the Lady Skins to 6-9 overall and 0-1 in 4A-3 conference play. The win improved Brookland to 15-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Brookland’s Evie Polsgrove led all scorers with 23 points. She also scored her 1000th career point in this game.
The Pocahontas Redskins hosted their January Invitational on Jan. 7 at the Pocahontas Aquatic Center. Other teams participating were Batesville, Brookland, Heber Springs, Jonesboro, Searcy, Valley View, and Westside. The girlsâ team came in second and the boysâ team just missed getting third place by one point.
Brylon Ulmer poured in 23 points to lead the Pocahontas Jr. Redskins to a 46-41 win over the Westside Jr. Warriors Monday, Jan. 6 at Schoonover Fieldhouse.
Like the outside temperatures the Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins were ice cold from the free throw line Monday, Jan. 6 as they suffered their first loss of the season falling to the Westside Jr. Lady Warriors 40-32 at Schoonover Fieldhouse. The loss dropped Pocahontas to 10-1.

The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins traveled to Tuckerman Thursday, Dec. 19, to take on a tough Jr. Lady Bulldog team and put their perfect season on the line.
Maynard Archery continued its impressive season with strong performances at the Brookland Bulls-Eye Bash.
