Coach Josh Cagle and Coach Jerry Songer, two former Maynard basketball standouts, now high school coaches, went head-to-head in the finals of the Battle of the Bootheel tournament. The Maynard Sr Lady Tigers and Coach Cagle came out on top defeating the Senath Hornersville Lady Lions 56-37 Saturday, Jan. 25 to claim the Bootheel Championship.

The Maynard Jr. Lady Tigers took second place in the Hillcrest Jr. High Girls Tournament at Strawberry. Maynard defeated Hillcrest and Sloan-Hendrix before falling to the top seeded Salem Lady Jr. Greyhounds in the finals.

The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins avenged their only loss of the season and defeated the Westside Jr. Lady Redskins 45-13 Thursday, Jan. 23, at Westside. Pocahontas improved their season record to 15-1.
The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins suffered their second loss of the season in a 30-28 squeaker to the Brookland Jr. Lady Bearcats at Brookland, Monday, Jan. 27. The loss dropped the Jr. Lady Redskins to 15-2.
Micah Dawkins put up 33 points for the Blytheville Chickasaws as they took a 64-51 decision from the Pocahontas Redskins Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Schoonover Fieldhouse.
The 2024 Black River Technical College (BRTC) trap team has made college history by taking 1st Place Team in Conference 2 of the USA Clay Target College League. This championship award is a great triumph for the team. It follows the 2023 Fall season where Sara Roland won first place Jr. Varsity Female and the team took seventh place in the conference.
The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins grabbed an early 15-0 lead before the Blytheville Jr. Lady Chickasaws could get on the scoreboard and claimed a 39-28 win Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Schoonover Fieldhouse. The win improved the Jr. Lady Redskins season record to 13-1.
