Competitive sports have a lot to offer young people. In addition to exposing children to the thrill of competition, competitive sports can set a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living.
Woke up at 5am and part of me thought I should go ahead, get up and get ready for work. But part of me wanted to just lie there. The two parts of me had a silent argument debating the pros and cons of getting up until finally one part of me pointed out it’s Saturday and it’s birthday date day. The other part then let me go back to sleep again... Until just now when she told me I had slept long enough and to get my lazy rear out of bed. She’s such a hag...

This week my thoughts turned to downtown Pocahontas– a 17 block National Historic District, the state’s largest such. I thought of how the businesses there and the characters associated with them had changed since I was a boy.
