What has happened to us in the last couple of decades? I know, not all of us have changed, and then some of us have changed for the better…while others, well, a little backsliding happened. Last week I was at a business, a store here in town.

I have been on the phone with Arvest Bank, Experian, Trans Union, Equifax and a life alert medical company when I dialed the wrong number, ALL DAY! Someone opened an account in my name at Arvest then signed up for overdraft privileges. That’s apparently how they get their money. I got it shut down and who knows what else I accidentally shut off. It’s been a very confusing morning.

Because I feel that, in the Heavens above The angels, whispering to one another, Can find, among their burning terms of love None so devotional as that of mother — Edgar Allen Poe Well, it appears as though I let Mother’s Day slip by without making it a topic of this wonderful column. A day late and a dollar short seems to be more than just a motto—but my way of life. But better late than never, as they always say… As we celebrated Mother’s Day last weekend, we hopefully honored the ladies who helped and tried to shape us, nurtured us, taught us and showed us what life and love are about. In fact, as I write this just after three this morning, I hear rain on my tiny tin-roofed room. Maybe we are set for a monsoon season this year, oh please no spring floods! What drew us to Batesville was a Chuck Wagon race. If you’ve never been, you need to go to one at least once in your life! Once will probably get you twice! Warning: here you will most probably get hooked. It came late in life for Red and me. I think our sweet Great Grandson Xander may have gotten hooked his first time. He definitely was the cutest Lil’ Cowboy there! And he got all excited waving his little hat like his old Pawpaw Red’s around!

Did you know that 50 percent of all children in the United States will be bitten by a dog before their 12th birthday? Did you know that 800,000 bites each year are severe enough to require medical treatment, while 1 to 2 million bites are unreported?

Every time I go to New Orleans, I make it a point to always take a late-night carriage ride through the French Quarter. In NOLA, tours and guides are plentiful, all offering up the same sort of subject with each tour guide giving their own spin on the tales. The rides last about an hour, and all day and all night, they are coming and going like crazy.
