Very rarely do we welcome celebrities into our community— not because we aren’t wonderful citizens with gracious and giving demeanors, but because, well, there really isn’t much reason for famous folks to stop by. That said, I do recall back in 2006 when Aaron Tippin, a country music singer most notable from the 90s, stopped by the local Walmart to sign a few autographs and miniature guitars.

Now that election has concluded, the members elected to serve in the 95th general Assembly will soon be gathering in the House Chamber. The House Organizational Meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m.

A lot of activity has taken place in our city over the past few weeks, much of it centered on Black River, with numerous canoe races taking place. Randolph County may finally be reaching its potential as the only county in the nation with five navigable streams.

It was quite the Jurassic adventure at our house this weekend, courtesy of our 4-year-old grandson. Let me tell you, when you’ve got a little guy who’s all about dinosaurs and animals, you can expect your weekend to go from ordinary to “dino- mite” in no time.

I recently heard that the Bank of Reyno had undergone a remodeling program, so I drove up on Monday to inspect the improvements. Although this bank is located in a very small town, its current facilities are strictly “big town.”
