The image of a child proudly carrying a lunchbox with their favorite cartoon character is a quintessential piece of American nostalgia. These days, however, the act of bringing a packed lunch has evolved from an occasional privilege to a daily routine for many students. But why the shift? Are school cafeteria options falling short, or are kids just too accustomed to snack foods and fast food? Or is it allergies? Moms don’t come for me; these are legitimate questions.

From Oct 2013 I must say that Wal-Mart has some honest employees, and I have proof. Recently, I lost a tiny purse while shopping at Wal Mart and reported it to the store’s Customer Service Department. A few hours later, a Customer Service representative called my home to inform me that the purse had been turned in to their department.

Winter storms used to mean chaos: kids running in and out of the house, dripping snow on the floor, asking for hot cocoa, and devouring snacks like a pack of wild animals. Snow days were full of sledding, snowman- building, and non-stop eating. Now, as empty nesters, my husband and I sit in the quiet, watching snow fall with a strange mix of nostalgia and relief.

Speaking French

I came across a meme recently that didn’t just speak to me—it shouted. It felt like it slapped me in the face, stepped on my toes and smacked me on the rear. Yes, it was that powerful. The meme spoke about using what God has given us— whether it’s a talent, a special skill or a unique trait—and reminded us of the importance of utilizing these gifts. It emphasized that, at the end of our lives, we should be able to face God and confidently say that we used everything He had given us.
