Jerry Dean Junkersfeld 1959-2022

Jerry Dean Junkersfeld, 62, of Pocahontas passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born May 28, 1959, in Pocahontas to Otis and Martha Welch Junkersfeld. He worked for Brown Shoe Company and later for the City of Pocahontas Street department. He is preceded in death by his father, Otis Junkersfeld; son, Joshua Junkersfeld; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Evelyn Junkersfeld; maternal grandmother, Vida Kellett; and maternal grandfather, John Welch. Jerry is survived by his mother, Martha Junkersfeld of Pocahontas; son, Brian (Amanda) Junkersfeld of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Sawyer and Baylor Junkersfeld of Pocahontas; brothers, Rick Junkersfeld, Tim (Andrea) Junkersfeld, Kevin (Savanna) Junkersfeld, and Harold Junkersfeld; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chad Williams, Ben Wicker, Rick Nipps, Mark Junkersfeld, Robert Atkins and Brent Kee. All services were held in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Burial followed in the Masonic Cemetery.

Raymond Gail Rickman 1941-2022

Raymond Gail Rickman 80, of Pocahontas passed away Saturday February 26, 2022, at his home. He was born December 17, 1941, to the late Jed and Birdie Davis Rickman in Ravenden Springs. He was a retired equipment operator for the Natural Gas Pipeline. Raymond loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and telling stories to all his family and friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Jed and Birdie Rickman; siblings, Duel Rickman, Jay Rickman, Helen German, JB Rickman, Jim Rickman, and Wilma Leslie. He is survived by his wife, Jan Crouch Rickman; daughter, Kim Segraves of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Monica Segraves of Pocahontas, Hunter (Brittnei) Segraves of Pocahontas, and great granddaughter Kenzlie Segraves of Pocahontas; siblings, Peggy Smith of Pocahontas, Martha Goodwin of Maynard, Joyce Morris of Pocahontas, Janice Taylor of Little Rock, and Jerry Rickman of Drasco; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 12-2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM with Billy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Yadkin Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Travis Jones, Austin Jones, Brennan Brodell, Monte Segraves, Cody Lindsey and Scott Thielemier.

Peggy Jane Davis 1948-2022

Peggy Jane Davis, 73, of Pocahontas passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home. She was born November 13, 1948 in Pocahontas to the late Cecil and Alouis Vandergriff Thatch. She worked as a beautician and greatly enjoyed her career and her clients. She loved to travel and to work in her yard growing beautiful flowers, but her greatest love was her family who meant the world to her. She was a member of Pocahontas First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Alouis Thatch; and by her husband, Andy Davis. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Jamie (David) Lemmons of Pocahontas; granddaughters, Katelyn (Matt) Koons of Pocahontas and Mykala (Trystan) Smith of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Claire, Piper, and Grayson Koons all of Pocahontas; sisters, Barbara (J.D.) Brown of Illinois and Vonda (Kenny) Dickey of Pocahontas; special friend, Murrey Grider; and many other relatives and friends. All services will be held in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2-4 PM. Funeral Service will be Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10 AM with Nelson Henderson and Terry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Eddie Smith, Justin Smith, Tony Guy, Bryan Brown, Matt Koons, and Trystan Smith. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Lemmons.

Travis Tyler 1938-2022

Travis Tyler, 84, of the Noland community passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Noland on Tuesday, February 1, 1938 to the late Leslie “Possum” and Therma “Billie” Sisson. She was known to everyone as “Granny.” Granny loved crocheting, quilting, playing cards, and taking care of “little people.” She was a faithful member of the Noland Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Nathan Sisson, Jeanie Sisson, and Vada Riney; daughter, Patty Tyler; and great-grandson, Cameron Blakey. Granny is survived by her loving hus band of 66 years, Glen Tyler; their children, Mickey (Sandy) Tyler, Vickie Pinion, Angie Cude, Ed (Elisa) Tyler, Kevin (Lisa) Tyler, Nathan Tyler, and Jody Tyler; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Joan Hulse, Leslie (Diane) Sisson, and Aaron (Genia) Sisson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 12-2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM with Joshua Dement officiating and special music provided by Hannah Tyler. Burial will follow in Noland Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Granny’s grandsons, Jason, Brandon, Adam, Hunter, Scott, Brett, Payden, and Lil Joe. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin and Alec. The Tyler family wishes to extend a special thank you to Legacy Hospice and especially to Barbra Wood for her loving care.

Shirley McFarlin 1936-2022

Shirley McFarlin, 85 of Corning passed away February 28, 2022 at home. Mrs. McFarlin was born June 29, 1936 in Nutbush, TN. She was a homemaker and Avon representative. She loved to paint, go bowling and spend time with grandchildren and family. Shirley was a member of Red Hat Society and Grassylead Church of Christ in Corning. On March 31, 1957, she married Sidney Earl McFarlin. They were married 60 years prior to his death on November 14, 2017. Survivors include her daughter Tonya (Bryan) Johnson of Pocahontas; grandson Carson Cole Johnson; great grandchildren Jaxon, Caroline and Calliope Johnson; brothers-in-law Larry Gardner of Soginaw, TN, Larry (Shelia) Darr of Jonesboro and Leonard Darr of Mountain Home; sisters-in-law Norma White of Corning and Dorothy Collier of St. Louis, MO; special friends Gunel Storey and Sharon Long; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son Toby McFarlin; parents Paul and Linnie (Ray) Green; brothers William and Floyd Green; and sisters Florence Walker, Gloria Johnson, Ann Gardner and Hattie Green; and grandson Justin Johnson. Visitation will be Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be Sunday at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Earl Ladyman officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.

Frances J. “Fran” (Van Hooser) Allison 1934-2022

Frances J. “Fran” (Van Hooser) Allison, age 87, of Jonesboro, AR, finished this life on February 18, 2022. Born in Broseley, MO on August 20, 1934, to Marcus D. Van Hooser and E. Pauline (Goble) Van Hooser. While she was very young, the family moved from Missouri to Pontiac, MI. It was there she met her husband, George, while he was “up North”, working between college terms. They married December 6, 1949. When he passed last year, they had been married for 71 years. Early in their careers and marriage, they lived in Oklahoma and Michigan. They returned to Arkansas in 1958, residing in Pocahontas, Rector, Searcy, Corning and finally, since 1978, Jonesboro. Fran and George were married at a younger age that is present custom. Though high school was interrupted by marriage and family, she finished her secondary education by correspondence courses. Fran postponed college for the sake of her children. Three of her four children were grown by the time she received her bachelor’s degree in history from Arkansas State University in 1974, where she also attained a master’s degree in 1975. Her first education position was at Knobel, AR, where she taught social studies and was the Guidance Counselor. Fran was at Bay, AR, from 1983 to 2008. She enjoyed reading about history, geography, psychology, and people. Fran loved music and had a beautiful soprano voice, valued all different types of music and was particularly fond of classical and vocal. During her life, she conveyed her enthusiasm and fascination for learning to family and students alike. In her position as guidance counselor, Fran positively influenced many students and aided them in making the right personal and career choices. And many through the years have expressed their appreciation to her.

Rudy Hausman 1949-2022

Rudy Hausman, 73 of Pocahontas passed away February 16, 2022, at his home. He was born January 16, 1949, to the late Louis Frank Hausman and Wanda Van Winkle Hausman in Engelberg, AR. Rudy was in the 4 infantry in the Army serving in Vietnam. While in the Army he received the following decoration medals and badges, NDSM, VSM, 1 OS Bar, Purple Heart, RVNCM W 60 Device, SS W Rifle Bar M14. After the military he became a Postal worker where he retired after 25+ years. He was married to Marilyn and celebrated their 50 anniversary January 14, 2022. He was a great husband, father, and friend.

Mary Lawana Hinkle 1934-2020

Mary Lawana Hinkle went home to our Heavenly Father on January 12, 2020 in Apopka FL. She was 85 years old and was born on June 12, 1934 in Scott County near Oran, Missouri to Emmett Otto & Dollie Mary Hinkle. She was one of 9 children growing up in Pocahontas, Arkansas with her siblings Lois (Darling), Layman Hinkle, Sanford Hinkle, Marilyn (Tyler), Louise (Wicker), Jeannie (Eagan), Delnora (Jones). She married at 17 years old to William Glenn Quirk moving to San Francisco CA, Chicago IL, Saranac Lake NY, Miami FL, Orlando FL and then to Anchorage Alaska in 1974. She later married Gordon DeWitt in 1989.
