A group of medical students from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro visited Pocahontas this week for a guided tour of the city, gaining insight into the community’s quality of life and rich history.

A Randolph County jury convicted Bryan K. Rogers of multiple violent felony charges March 20, including three counts of attempted capital murder, stemming from a 2022 arson attack on the home of Randolph County Sheriff Kevin Bell and a subsequent high-speed pursuit during which Rogers fired at pursuing law enforcement officers.

The Pocahontas City Council met on March 11 to address key community concerns, including affordable housing, economic development and public safety measures. The meeting also included discussions on funding applications for the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program (ACEDP) and ending with the State of the City address by Mayor Futrell.
