The Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex will host its “August ATA Shoot” on Saturday, Aug. 16. Registration will be held from 8-10 a.m., with shooting beginning at 9 a.m. Late registration may be available as space permits.
The date is set and the performers are scheduled for the annual Beatles at the Ridge music festival in downtown Walnut Ridge this fall. Festival organizers are encouraging fans to mark Saturday, Sept. 20, on their calendars for the event.
The Maynard School District apologizes for the inconvenience caused by ongoing construction on Highway 328. As a result of this roadwork, the Biggers and Reyno bus routes will temporarily be adjusted to travel through Stokes to Engelberg.
The Lawrence County Fair returns to Imboden with a week long celebration of agriculture, entertainment, youth programs and community fun. Events will officially kick off Wednesday, Aug. 13, and continue through Saturday, Aug.

Beginning with the 20252026 school year, the Pocahontas School District will implement a new policy prohibiting student use of personal electronic devices during the entire school day in compliance with Arkansas’ Act 122, known as the “Bell to Bell, No Cell” Act.
Doni Martin Center receives grant
First National Bank of Commerce (FNBC) recently donated $5,000 to the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Foundation as part of its quarterly pledge. FNBC’s Amy Fitzgerald presented the check to BRTC President Martin Eggensperger and Dr. Karen Liebhaber, BRTC Foundation Executive Director and BRTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
