Flu vaccine clinic to be hosted by Pocahontas School District

The Pocahontas School District will be hosting a flu vaccine clinic along with the Randolph County Health Department on October 15 and October 16. The health department will be on campus to administer flu vaccines to students and staff. Consent forms will be sent home with students. If you would like your child to receive the vaccine, please complete the consent form and return to your child’s school nurse by October 10. Please call your child’s school nurse with any questions at 870-892-4573.

Gateway CASA’s 3rd Annual Champions for Kids Gala breaks records, surpasses fundraising goals

Gateway CASA of the 3rd Judicial District hosted its 3rd Annual Champions for Kids Gala this past weekend at the James Ranch Event Center, and the evening proved to be a record- breaking success. With the event center filled to capacity, supporters came together to celebrate, raise funds, and strengthen their commitment to children in foster care across Randolph, Sharp, Jackson, and Lawrence counties.

Daughters of American Revolution celebrate Constitution Week

To celebrate this Constitution Week, September 17 – 23, the Pocahontas Five Rivers Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution have set up displays about the Constitution at the Randolph County Library in Pocahontas and at the Lawrence County Library in Walnut Ridge. They encourage everyone to go to the library and to study the Constitution and reflect on the privilege of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities which that privilege involves.

Bobbie Jean Memorial Library to hold Open House

The Bobbie Jean Memorial Library Friends of the Library invite the public to join them for an open house on September 23 from 3 to 6 p.m. The library is located at 102 N. Hendrix in Imboden. The public is welcome to attend and explore everything the local library has to offer. Questions will be answered regarding library cards. eBooks and audio books. There will be free ice cream, brownies and cookies.
