Sutton to seek a second term as Pocahontas Mayor
After almost one full term in office, Pocahontas Mayor Keith Sutton has announced his bid for reelection. “I am just super excited about all that is happening to our city,” said Mayor Sutton, “I would appreciate, and consider it an honor, to be elected to a second term.”

Local resident killed in wreck
Arkansas State Police reported the death of a Randolph County woman and the injury of a Lawrence County man, after a three-vehicle accident on Highway 67 North on December 29. According to the Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Report, 25-yearold Megan Crawford, of Ravenden Springs, was driving her 2013 GMC Yukon on US Highway 67 North, a little after 12 a.m.

Blast from the past… Dr. J.W. Ryburn, County Doctor
One of Randolph Counties’ most cherished physicians, a man by the name of Dr. James Walter Ryburn, was historically prevalent and well thought of in our community. During Ryburn’s lifetime he served this community as a “horse and buggy” doctor and later found himself using the automobile to make his house calls.

Chad Burdin to run for Randolph County Judge
Chad Burdin, resident of Randolph County, has announced his intentions for running for Randolph County Judge. Burdin, who is married to Rosella Wallace Burdin, has lived in Randolph County for over 20 years and feels his experiences in engineering, maintenance management and construction gives him the qualifications necessary to be the county CEO.
Notable events that took place in January 1922

Huskey Seeking another term as Randolph County Treasurer
Randolph County Treasurer since 2009, Sherry Huskey has announced her intentions to seek another term of office in the 2022 elections. Sherry grew up in Maynard and has lived most of her life in the Maynard and Supply areas of the county. The last few years she has lived in Pocahontas.

Old Randolph County Courthouse celebrates 150th Anniversary
Randolph County’s most iconic architectural feature will experience its sesquicentennial in 2022. The 1872 county courthouse that sits in the middle of the Downtown National Historic District will be 150 years old soon.
