Pocahontas Public Schools Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Pocahontas Public Schools will not be in session on Monday, January 17, 2022. Schools will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Pocahontas Public School will resume the regular schedule on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 for all students.

I taught first grade at Weiner Elementary (Harrisburg School District) for two years then I came to Pocahontas Public Schools and taught Kindergarten for two years, district test coordinator for one year, and now this is my third year as school counselor.
The PHS and PJHS Quiz Bowl Teams recently competed in the Wildcat Invitational, hosted virtually by Trumann Schools on December 10. Both teams placed third in the competition.
An accident involving two semitrucks caused major traffic backups on US Highway 67 near the Engleberg turn off (166) on Thursday January 6. Arkansas State Police, The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and the Pocahontas Police Department responded to the call.
As of Wednesday, January 12, the Pocahontas Public School District has nearly 200 students and faculty members in quarantine or isolation. Due to the rising numbers in COVID-19 positives and close contact exposure, the district decided for all students and faculty to wear a face mask while on campus.
Kerri King of Pocahontas is announcing her bid to run for Pocahontas City Clerk. King currently holds the Ward 2, Position 2 City Council position where she is involved with making decisions for the City of Pocahontas. Along with holding the City Council position, King is also the Community Manager for Oak Creek Apartments in Pocahontas.

After almost one full term in office, Pocahontas Mayor Keith Sutton has announced his bid for reelection. “I am just super excited about all that is happening to our city,” said Mayor Sutton, “I would appreciate, and consider it an honor, to be elected to a second term.”
Randolph County’s most iconic architectural feature will experience its sesquicentennial in 2022. The 1872 county courthouse that sits in the middle of the Downtown National Historic District will be 150 years old soon.
