Palestine Church of Christ vandalized

The Palestine Church of Christ was recently vandalized. According to a source, a shotgun was used to damage the pulpit and went through the wall. Damage was done to the communion table along with items on the table. There were also numerous holes knocked through the walls of the church. A report has been filed with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and evidence was collected to be processed. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

Powhatan Historic State Park to host July workshop

Powhatan Historic State Park, will host a Canning Workshop on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join park staff to learn how to preserve tomatoes, corn, beans, squash, and other fruits and vegetables through canning. Staff will discuss the history of canning and give tips for making canning easy. Participants will leave with a sample of canned goods made at the workshop. The registration fee is $25. Space is limited.

BRTC hosts tour for Tate Manufacturing

Tate Manufacturing’s Divisional Technical Manager Tyler Smith recently toured many of Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) technical programs on the Pocahontas campus. Smith wanted to tour the facility and meet with the welding instructors to discuss the types of welding training and certifications BRTC teaches the students.
