Swimming lessons offered at aquatic center

The Dolphins Swim Team has joined forces with the Pocahontas Aquatic Center to provide swim lessons throughout the summer season. Led by the team coaches and senior members, these lessons aim to enhance water safety skills and foster a love for swimming among participants. Coach Alexis Lawhon, who began her swimming journey with the Dolphins 11 years ago, will be instructing toddlers to older children. Coach Christina Swint, a new addition to the team and a high school art teacher in Corning, will primarily work with the preschool group. Head Coach Anna Lawhon, boasting 25 years of experience in aquatics, will guide swimmers at all levels.

Memorial Day Ceremony to be held May 29

As the nation prepares to commemorate Memorial Day on Monday, May 29, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4556 is gearing up to host the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the solemn grounds of Randolph Memorial Gardens. This longstanding tradition honors the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

Job Fair to be Held at BRTC

Northeast Arkansas Intermodal, Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce College will co-host a regional job fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at Black River Technical College in the Randolph County Development Center on the Pocahontas campus.

Blast from the past…1900

This old photo, found in the Star Herald files, is one of the southeast corner of the court square around 1900. The building at right was the Randolph County Bank. Later, for a long time, the home of Mary Brown’s Arkoma Café, and after that was occupied by Brown’s Store. Currently this is the site of Edward Jones.
