Baltz graduates from U of A’s Fulbright College

Brenna Baltz of Pocahontas recently graduated from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Baltz joined more than 900 additional undergraduate Fulbright College students who graduated in spring 2023 and whose academic achievement was celebrated during the commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 12, in Bud Walton Arena.

Rotary thanks sponsors for 2023 raffle success

Summer on the Square In Pocahontas Promises a Day Packed with Fun and Entertainment The long-awaited Summer on the Square festival is set to take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4, promising a day filled with excitement and entertainment for the entire family. This event, organized by the downtown events committee and supported by the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, aims to bring the community together to enjoy all the area has to offer. Cally Shore, the director of the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce and head of downtown events, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming festival. “The events committee for the downtown area has been working on this event for a while, and we are so excited that it is finally here,” she said.

Juneteenth Celebration a huge success

On Saturday, July 17, Pocahontas kicked off this year’s annual Juneteenth with a celebration held outside the Eddie Mae Herron Center. The festivities, which began the night before Saturday’s events, consisted of community members cleaning up the Friendship Cemetery, a historic black cemetery located in Randolph County.
