The passing of former Randolph County Sheriff, Billy Almus “Bill” Rapert, has left the community mourning the loss of a beloved figure and a dedicated law enforcement officer. Rapert, who passed away at the age of 93 on Sunday, July 23, at Randolph Home, leaves behind a legacy of faithful public service and a deep commitment to his community.
On Aug. 8, the City of Pocahontas is set to hold a special election that will put two crucial questions before the citizens. Mayor Keith Sutton urges the community to understand the significance of their vote and emphasizes that this is not a new tax but rather a decision on maintaining the existing tax that currently funds the city’s aquatic center and will soon reach its expiration.
The Old Randolph County Courthouse was busy with activity on Thursday, July 20, as the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors held their monthly meeting. Led by Board President Mike Thompson, the meeting was attended by numerous guests, including Pocahontas Mayor Keith Sutton, who provided valuable updates on various city initiatives.
