Pocahontas Public School extends its appreciation to the community by introducing complimentary VIP athletic passes for senior citizens aged 55 and older residing in the Pocahontas School District. In addition to senior citizens, Pocahontas Public School is proud to extend VIP passes to military personnel, including both active-duty members and veterans.

Randolph County JPs tourAlma Spikes property

On Thursday, Aug. 20, members of the Randolph County Quorum Court, led by Judge Ben Wicker, Tax Collector Jennifer Zitzalberger, County Attorney Ryan Wallace and several county employees, embarked on a tour of the Alma Spikes Elementary School property. The tour was conducted by Pocahontas School Superintendent Dr. Lance Arbuckle, and it ignited discussions regarding the potential relocation of some county offices, including the district court, to the ten-acre property on Highland Drive. If implemented, this move would create a large Randolph County justice complex.

The Big Yellow Bus…

It is getting that time of the year when those big yellow buses are seen on the roads and streets of Randolph County and across our state. You would think that the size and distinct color of these busses they would be easily seen; not to mention the strobe light and the flashing eight way lights, and extended flashing STOP arm should get anyone’s attention. The truth is that most of us have been guilty of zoning out when driving and overlooking the flashing lights on a huge yellow bus.
