A new era in Pocahontas arts: Marr Street Playhouse is ready for the spotlight

Exciting changes are on the horizon for theater supporters in Pocahontas as Marr Street Productions steps into the spotlight by taking over the Downtown Playhouse. This transition comes as the nonprofit organization that has been managing the Playhouse, Downtown Playhouse & Second Act Productions Acting Company, has decided to pass the torch, donating the theater building and all its assets to the next generation of performers in the area. As of August 28, 2023, Downtown Playhouse has officially transferred its operations to Marr Street Productions, which will now be known as Marr Street Playhouse.

Randolph County Fair opens with annual parade

Tuesday night saw participants and spectators gather to usher in the annual Randolph County Fair festivities with the annual parade. The procession marks the commencement of a week-long celebration. The parade showed a large number of participants, featuring a mix of entrants, ranging from beauty queens to fire trucks, all contributing to the sights and sounds that marked the event.
