PSD accepting School Choice Apps

The Pocahontas School District is now accepting students under the Arkansas Public School Choice Act as of January 1st. According to Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, students are required to submit a School Choice Application to both the nonresident district and the resident district.

PSD announces solar eclipse closure

Pocahontas Public Schools will not be in session on Monday, April 8, 2024, due to the total solar eclipse. The school will be closed as we are in the direct path of the totality, and this event is anticipated to draw nearly 20,000 visitors to our surrounding area. In light of the expected influx of visitors, it has been decided to close the school to minimize logistical challenges that may arise with school dismissal and bus routes.

JR Rogers purchases former dinner theater

In the aftermath of the devastating 2017 flood that wreaked havoc on Randolph County and the subsequent global COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, the Imperial Dinner Theatre on Highway 304 in Pocahontas has stood as a haunting reminder of the two crises. However, hope has dawned on this inactive structure as local musician and entrepreneur JR Rogers stepped in to breathe new life into the decaying theater.

PHS Track receives large donation

The Pocahontas High School track program has received a substantial boost with a generous donation from Tony Bunch, a 1982 graduate of PHS. The donation, made in honor of his parents Byron and Anita Bunch, will contribute to the acquisition of a new timing system for track meets hosted by the school.
