BRTC Food Pantry makes changes
Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) food pantry moved from the administration building to SC 100 in the Joe Martin building on the Pocahontas campus. Food pantry organizer Christina Derbes said, “It’s a larger room which allows us to house more amenities and its new location will give volunteers and organizers the ability to have regular hours which helps us to better serve students.” The food pantry’s new hours will be 9:00 a.m.

Crain appointed to CASA position
In a recent announcement, Ross Crain of Maynard has been appointed as the newest Randolph County advocate for the Gateway CASA Third Judicial District. The role of a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) involves substantial training, time commitment and dedication to serving the best interests of abused and neglected children. Mr. Crain underwent a rigorous selection process, meeting specific criteria to qualify for this crucial position.

A 115-Year Legacy of Service to Community
It was a quiet morning in the old Randolph County Bank Office in mid-March 1908. Outside a cold rain fell steadily. There were few customers that morning. The bank’s young assistant cashier, Lantie Martin, gazed thoughtfully through the window across court square…at the mud streets, the courthouse with its iron picket fence to keep out the hogs and cattle, and the brick buildings, which lined the south and west sides of the square.

First National Bank of Lawrence County gives to Williams Baptist University
Williams Baptist University has announced a generous donation of $7,500 from the First National Bank of Lawrence County, dedicated to fortifying the Williams Works program. The check was ceremoniously presented to Dr. Stan Norman, President of WBU, by Sonja Adkisson, Vice President of Data Processing & Assistant Cashier Entering its fourth year, the Williams Works program continues to play a pivotal role in supporting students on their educational journey. Currently assisting over 90 students, the program has experienced remarkable growth and has fostered collaborations with entities such as Bosch Tools, WatersEdge Church Accounting, and Lawrence Health. These partnerships serve as workstations, offering students invaluable practical experience.

Randolph and Lawrence County Drug Courts Commencement Ceremony set for Jan 25
The Honorable Judge Adam Weeks, serving with distinction in the Third Judicial District Circuit Court, is pleased to extend an invitation to the community for the upcoming commencement ceremony of the Randolph and Lawrence County Drug Courts. The ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m., and will take place at the historic Old Randolph County Courthouse located at 107 E Everett St in Pocahontas. The Drug Courts Commencement Ceremony is an occasion that signifies the successful completion of an intensive and transformative program by individuals committed to overcoming substance abuse challenges.

VFW’s Patriotic Art Contest
VFW Auxiliary #4556 will hold it’s annual 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest for students in grades 9-12. Students must be enrolled in a public, private, parochial or home school program.
