Veteran Appreciation Day event set for August 27

There will be a Veteran Appreciation Day on August 27 at the Randolph County Fairgrounds beginning at 10 a.m. Special guest speakers are Wayne Ruthven, Deputy Secretary of ADVA and Trisha Leslie, Randolph County Veteran Service Officer. There will be door prizes and music performed by the Pocahontas High School Band and Choir. Free meals will be available for Veterans and spouses with Military Service verification.

Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas to Host USDA Food Distributions

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas will host drive-thru USDA food distributions in Randolph County on Wednesday, August 27 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. or until food runs out at the following locations: Pocahontas Community Center 205 Geneva Dr. Pocahontas, AR Calvary Missionary Baptist Church 17723 Hwy 90 W Ravenden Springs, AR Households are eligible to receive USDA foods once per month and must reside in Randolph County. Recipients must meet the income guidelines that have been set for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Recipients can self-declare the following information to determine program eligibility: name, address, family size and combined monthly income of the household.
