BRTC’s Project REACH site located at Dalton has set April 2 as its reopening date. The REACH site will be open on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. through October.

“It’s unprecedented,” said Jennifer Reed, the assistant operations manager at the Pocahontas Walmart, regarding the tourist projections during the weekend leading up to and the day of the total solar eclipse on April 8. Being the first solar eclipse in the U.S. in seven years, as well as the first time Arkansas has been in the path of totality since 1918, current figures estimate upwards of 15,000 visitors to Randolph County and surrounding areas. This influx will see the highways, streets and businesses packed with out-of-state visitors.
