Earl Manning

Earl Manning, 76, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center on February 6, 2024. He was born on December 3, 1947 in Alva, Kentucky to Earnest and Debbie (Potter) Manning. Earl attended the Pyburn Street Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, watching sports on T.V., and spending time with his grandchildren which the world revolved around.

Georgia Sallee

Georgia Crabtree Sallee, 97 of Paragould and formerly of Pocahontas and Rector,Arkansas passed from this life to forever be with Jesus on Tuesday February 6, 2024 at the Greenhouse Cottages of Belle Meade. Georgia was born on November 16, 1926 in Imboden, Arkansas to the late Marshall Dexter and Margaret Mae Warden Crabtree. She was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and worked for many years as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses. Georgia was very active in public service, serving on multiple committees and boards. She was chairman of the board for Randolph County Hospital during the building of the new facility and served as a member of the district board for Girl Scouts of America. She was a much-loved member of the Pocahontas First United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities. She sang in the choir and was an MYF leader.After moving to Rector in 2006 Georgia became a faithful active member of Rector First United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she loved gardening, bird watching, playing golf and traveling with her friends. She will be missed by all those who loved and knew her.

Judy Bennett

Judy was a fun-loving character who always had a good word to say about everybody, always willing to help and always had a smile on her face. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was loving the Lord, her family, friends, and caring for others. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was sunshine to all that knew her, was loved dearly, and she will truly be missed. Those we love don’t go away. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. What the caterpillar perceived as the end, to the butterfly, was seen as the beginning.

Janet Lee Overstreet, formerly of Pocahontas, AR, passed away at the age of 76, January 13, 2024. She is survived by son, Jeff; daughterin- law, Jenni; grandsons, Garrett and Jake, all of Maumelle; only sister, Jeannie French of Hot Springs Village; her special cousin, Patsy Cooper of Jonesboro; many other cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was proceeded in death by her dear parents, Dowell and Geneva Ramer, and her loving husband, Gary.

Virginia Ponder

Virginia Ann Ponder, 88, of Imboden, Arkansas passed away on January 23, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life dedicated to her family and the Lord. Virginia was born on September 29, 1935, to Virgil and Lois Baker on a farm just outside of Ravenden, Arkansas. After graduating from Walnut Ridge High School in 1953, she went on to receive a degree in teaching at Harding University and a master’s degree from ASU. She began her first teaching job at a two-room schoolhouse near Light, Arkansas, kickstarting a 39-year career in education. In 1964, Virginia bumped into a childhood friend, Bob Ponder, while working a second job at Sloan’s Department Store in Walnut Ridge. After a short exchange, Bob left the store, went a few doors down, and called her up at work to ask her on a date for that night. Three months later, the two were married on October 31, 1964. Virginia and Bob moved to the St Louis area and went on to have two sons, Gene and Joe. In 1992, after a fruitful career of teaching over one thousand students, Virginia retired and spent her time babysitting her four grandchildren, Katie, Mary, Patrick, and Cody, traveling all over the US with Bob, and buying enough QVC and Home Shoppers products to fill a warehouse.
