A group of prominent Pocahontas businessmen are pictured on an afternoon fishing trip on Black River near here, sometime around the turn of the century or sometime thereafter. They are, from left, Isaac (Ike) Hirst, Bill Bristow, Wesley Presley, Ed Graham, Billy Oldfield and Clarence Henderson, Sr. In the background is a gasoline powered boat, the steering wheel of which can be plainly seen in the center of the boat. Old timers residing in Randolph County recalled that; the power boat, popularly used for excursions and fishing by local businessmen, later was sunk in an explosion of the gasoline motor, and a local businessman, Fred Kline, was killed (or drowned) in the accident.
