The Hotel Randolph was once a beloved destination for visitors to Northeast Arkansas in the 1930s and 40s. Located on Bettis Street, behind Johnston Drug Store, the hotel offered comfortable accommodations and dining for travelers passing through town.
However, the hotel’s glory days were cut short by a series of fires. In the 1940s, the hotel was damaged by fire, allegedly caused by a competing hotel that hired an arsonist. The building was rebuilt, but it burned again in later years.
Today, the site of the Hotel Randolph is occupied by the parking lot of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. But for those who remember the hotel, its legacy lives on.
A special thanks to John Jackson for providing this week’s Blast from the Past.
