I am thankful for…
I am thankful for many things. Too many of them, I know I foolishly take for granted, but all of them are precious to me.

Well, it caught up with me. I was beginning to think I’d escaped it, but no.
I listened as Cubert and two of his brothers talked about old times and some of the things they remembered from their youth. One particular story captured their attention that day when six of us were sitting around the big old table. They had an audience of at least one, for I was listening intently and had never heard this story before. The further back in years they went, the more animated the three brothers became. They took turns telling the same story; each of them elaborated on something they had especially remembered. It was wonderful watching and listening to them as their moods shifted from very serious to varying degrees of laughter. I couldn’t help but think about how challenging that time must have been for the family. When a man is a preacher, the whole family is on duty!

The time for the big Thanksgiving Dinner is almost here. I hope you have your menu all planned and part of your shopping done. Remember to buy the turkey early enough to refrigerate it for several days so it will be well thawed. The packaging should tell you how many days to thaw it based on the size of the bird you have. Today, I’m going to share some fruit salad recipes that will complement a heavy meal. A bite of something fruity and cool always adds a delicious touch.
