Gifted and Talented students host Business Expo event
The Gifted and Talented students at Pocahontas’ MD Williams Intermediate School, under the guidance of their GT teacher Becky Lindner, showcased their entrepreneurial skills by organizing a Business Expo-style event. Each student demonstrated their creativity and business acumen by conceptualizing, producing and marketing their unique products. Lindner reported that the event garnered substantial attendance and proved to be a resounding success, highlighting the remarkable talents and achievements of these young entrepreneurs.

BRTC Student Mike Fraley receives American FFA Degree
Black River Technical College (BRTC) Automotive Collision Technology student Mike Fraley recently traveled to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis where he received an American FFA degree. Fraley graduated from Couch R-1 School District in 2022 but remained a member of the FFA chapter he joined during his freshmen year of high school.
BRTC’s LPN Program ranked 3rd in the state
Black River Technical College’s Licensed Practical Nursing Program (LPN) has been ranked 3rd in the state by praticalnursing. org. The website praised BRTC’s program: “Black River Technical College offers an outstanding practical nursing program at its campus in Pocahontas, Arkansas. By blending tradition, technology, and innovation, BRTC emphasizes quality in its practical nursing program and workforce training. They also believe that nurturing relationships increases access, leading to seamless education.”
Black joins St. Bernards to lead physician marketing
St. Bernards Healthcare and Medical Group, the group that owns St Bernards Five Rivers Medical Center here in Pocahontas, has named Mallory Black their new Director of Physician Marketing, spearheading efforts to promote and connect the region’s largest voluntary association of physicians.
