Alvin Leon Guntharp 83, of Pocahontas, passed away February 22, 2023, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House surrounded by his family. Leon was born in Ravenden Spring to the late Lehman Guntharp and Virgie Mae O’Dell Guntharp on October 10, 1939. He was retired from GTE Communication.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lehman Guntharp and Virgie Mae O’Dell Guntharp, and sister Velma Louise Hutchison.

He is survived by his wife Bernadine Guntharp of the home; daughter Deborah Lynn Cook of Bono, Arkansas; and a sister Freda Ivern Rickelman of Machesney Park, Illinois.

All services will be held in the chapel of Hope Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Stephen McFadden and Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will be held at Old Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Ben Hutchinson, Rick Rickelman, George Kite, Shawn Rickelman, Kent Miller, and Kirk Miller.

Honorary pallbearers James Adams, Ronnie McReynolds, David Adams, Daniel McReynolds, and Michael Burr.
