Brooke Toney, a Pocahontas High School student, is crowned Miss Independence by last year’s titleholder, Lauren Anderson, during the annual July 4 pageant held in Corning as part of their Fourth of July Picnic Celebration. Toney’s victory marks a proud moment for Randolph County, as she triumphed over numerous contestants to keep the coveted crown within the community.
