DENNIS FOSTER HOLOBAUGH

Wichita Falls resident Dennis Foster Holobaugh passed away on September 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was 69 years old. Dennis was a largerthan- life individual who never met a stranger. He will be missed by many.

Dennis was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on April 3, 1955. He graduated from Pocahontas High School, where he was quarterback of the football team. At halftime, he would take off his pads and take the field to play trombone with the band. He then went to the University of Arkansas, where he met his wife of 47 years, Paula Bell, and established many lifelong friendships as a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. His ties to the school continued throughout his life, and he was proud that his two daughters were also Arkansas graduates.

Dennis and Paula were married September 2, 1978, and set their roots in Wichita Falls. Dennis went to work for the family business, Bell Processing, where he helped the firm grow and prosper for the next 40+ years.

Dennis was a devoted friend, husband, father, and grandfather. While his daughters were growing up, he loved to play basketball with their friends in the neighborhood. He was as adept at being the brunt of jokes as he was at dishing them out during those games and throughout his life. Dennis and Paula later became a feared duo in pickle ball, and the grandkids loved to challenge them on the court. After being surrounded by two daughters and his wife for much of his life, he welcomed his sons-in-law with open arms. They remember long trips in Dennis’ pickup truck to share funny stories and to hopefully see a big deer. He was proud of his two daughters, and he loved to dote on his four grandkids. When he wasn’t with his family, Dennis loved to fly fish and play gin with his friends. He was also an avid hunter and cherished being outdoors.

Dennis is survived by his wife Paula, his daughter Ashlee Myers and husband Darren of Denver, CO, his daughter Lyndsay Pue and husband Art of Charlotte, NC, and his sister Debby Holobaugh of Lowell, AR. He was lovingly known as Big Daddy to his four grandchildren: Foster and Leete Myers of Denver, CO and Hattie and Betsy Tate of Charlotte, NC. He was adored by his nieces and nephew, Christie, Shana, Amber, Dea, Summer, Breana, Ryan, Brendan and Andrew, each of whom he loved like his own. When the lights shined bright on Friday nights, Dennis was always in the stands to cheer on his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Holobaugh.

Dennis became a believer at a young age and led by example through his unconditional love, service and obedience. Paula and Dennis were members of the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls and were longtime worshipers at The Chapel at Possum Kingdom. His many friends knew his fun approach to life, but they welcomed his spiritual personality.

A special thanks is given to the devoted staff of The Pines at Rolling Meadows who loved and cared for “Pops” and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Straight Street at 1100 Indiana Ave, Wichita Falls TX 76301 and Hospice of Wichita Falls at 4400 Cypress Wichita Falls, TX 76310.

Memorial services are schedule for Friday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church at 1200 9th Street Wichita Falls, TX 76301.

One sign of a great life is the stories people can tell once you are gone. Dennis’ family and friends will never run out of stories. To put it simply, he was a great man.
