Lyndon – Joseph Leon

Massey, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

He was born on December 17, 1946 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the son of Dewan and Beulah

(McLeod) Massey. Joe grew up in Pocahontas, Arkansas and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1964. He had lived in or near Lyndon since 1973. Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka in curing until he retired after 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #125 and Euclid Lodge #101 A.F.&A.M., both in Lyndon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lyndon and the Household of Faith Church in Benton, Arkansas.

On January 20, 1967, Joe was united in marriage to Linda McAtee in Pocahontas, Arkansas. To this union three children were born, Bill, Tim and Tami. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Dewan and Beulah; his sister, Pat White; his step brother, Dwight Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Rhett and Robin. Joe is survived by his wife, Linda of 57 years; his two sons, Bill (Tamara) Massey of Melvern and Tim (Diane Palmer) Massey of Topeka; his daughter, Tami (Ron) Reece of Lyndon; his sister, Janet (Jon) Crabbe of Pocahontas, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Joe will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, August 25 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery at a later date.
