James “Junior” Huitt Thompson, 77, passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Junior was born on July 9, 1946, to James Ray and Nell Haulcroft Thompson in the living quarters of the Attica Country Store. The oldest of four children, James was a farmer who enjoyed fishing in his later years. If you ever saw an older man in glasses driving a white Buick parked at Baltz Lake fishing, you likely saw Junior Thompson.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of forty-six years, Virginia Thompson, his niece Laura Beth Thompson and his nephew Aaron Thompson.

James H. is survived by his son Barry Thompson of Pocahontas, daughter Kim (Jay) Matheny of near Ravenden and Andrea (Shawn) Rowe of Pocahontas; grandsons, Tyler (Kellie) Matheny of Williford, Kanyon Matheny of Ravenden, Owen Rowe of Pocahontas; granddaughter Hannah Rowe of Pocahontas; two great granddaughters, Kinsley and Amberly Matheny of Williford; brothers, Ray (Marilyn) Thompson of Rogers, Richard (Cathy) Thompson of McKinney, TX., sister Diane (John) Kennedy of Pocahontas as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 – 3:00p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, with the service to begin at 3:00p.m. all in the Mc-Nabb Funeral Home Chapel.
